Paris Games Week (PGW) is France's biggest video game trade show, organized by the Syndicat des Editeurs de Logiciels de Loisirs (SELL). Created in 2010 and open to the general public for 5 days, the show has gone from strength to strength, reaching 317,000 visitors in 2019. Paris Games Week has become the 2nd biggest trade show in Europe, and the 5th biggest in the world. The show's success reflects the tremendous dynamism of the video game industry in France: sales of 6.1 billion euros by 2023 and 72% of French people playing video games.
The show embodies the diversity of gamers in France, welcoming families as well as large numbers of young adults and teenagers (average age 25, with more than half coming from the Paris region).
The world's biggest manufacturers (Nintendo, Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox) and video game publishers (Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Plaion, Warner Bros.) give PGW visitors the chance to try out the industry's latest releases, with controllers in hand, just a few weeks before Christmas.
PGW also owes its success to the presence of an esport scene offering the best programming of the year, with the finals of the biggest national and European competitions and the presence of France's best gaming teams and influencers.
